“We must, indeed, all hang together or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately.” -Benjamin Franklin
After struggling with alcoholism, drug addiction and relapse for many years, Matt found recovery again in 2013 through long-term treatment. During his aftercare experience, Matt became motivated to work in the field. Prior to coming to Brookdale, Matt was the director of operations for a long-term drug and alcohol aftercare program for six years. During this time, he worked with adults, adolescents and families suffering from the disease of addiction. Being taught early on that groups of people get better together, Matt not only understands the value of the group process but enjoys working with the patient community.
Matt is a certified recovery specialist, certified instructor for the Crisis Prevention Institute and completed the ARISE Invitational Intervention Training. He also completed training on motivational interviewing, medication assisted treatment (MAT), de-escalation, crisis management and trauma-informed care.
Prior to 2013, Matt was in restaurant management for many years where he learned the value of customer service and operational efficiencies.
During his free time, Matt loves spending time with family and reading about the neuroscience of addiction, Terence Gorski’s work on relapse, psychology, and different types of religious literature.
