The families of those who suffer from addiction carry a lot of weight. They may be dealing with stress, anger,…
With decades of experience helping families affected by the disease of addiction, Sharon Poray comes to Brookdale with a wealth of knowledge and expertise, alongside a personal desire to be of service to those in need.
Originally from Glen Ridge, New Jersey, Sharon made northeastern Pennsylvania her home during high school. In 1986, she graduated from King’s College with a Bachelor of Business and obtained her MBA with a concentration in Management in 1988 from Wilkes College.
What began as mere circumstance, Sharon’s first position held in the treatment industry soon flourished into a lifelong career of commitment and passion for helping the families of addicts. In between jobs, Sharon was presented with an opportunity to share her own personal experiences and guidance to families at a local treatment center, as she had been an active member of Al-Anon. At the time, she believed this would be a temporary position, but quickly realized being of service to those in need was her true calling.
In 1992, Sharon took on the role as Director of the Family Program for Clearbrook Treatment Centers, where she would spend the next 27 years. Alongside her 32 years as a member of Al-Anon, Sharon’s experience working with families makes her an instrumental asset to Brookdale Recovery, our patients and their families, and the local recovering community.
Outside of work, Sharon enjoys spending most her time with family and loved ones and reading. Her primary goal as Family Program Director is to give Brookdale patients and their families the hope they are so desperately in need of.
