Originally from New York City, Brookdale’s Lead Detox Clinical Coordinator Counselor, Keith Watson, has extensive personal and professional experience with substance use disorder treatment. A person who has found freedom from addiction after years of struggle and hardship, Keith brings forth an undeniable passion to give back what was so freely given to him.
Before coming to Brookdale, Keith has had the privilege to work in various positions in the treatment industry, including Technician, Technician Supervisor, Department Manager, Patient Advocate, Certified Recovery Specialist and Associate Addiction Counselor. He has recently obtained his bachelor’s degree in Human Services, with the hope to help others like himself see the light out of addiction.
Keith tells us, “Today, I have surrendered to a simple 12-Step program. I have found people who helped me transform years of anger, fear and pain into trust and love, free from active addiction. I can hug and communicate with fellow addicts, because where else in our common ground can we find such a mirror of hope.”
For Keith, being a part of the Brookdale team means he is never bored and surrounded by challenges, as there is so much to do with so little time. Nevertheless, he always tries to carry the message of hope, healing and compassion. From active alcoholism and addiction to having much responsibility, Keith has no doubt that he is a living example of what recovery can be.
Outside of work, Keith enjoys grilling and riding roller coasters, and will never turn down a good Lifetime movie and a bag of chips.
