“There is guidance for each of us, and by lowly listening, we shall hear the right word. Certainly, there is a right for you that needs no choice on your part. Place yourself in the middle of the stream of power and wisdom which flows into your life. Then without effort, you are impelled to truth and perfect contentment." -Ralph Waldo Emerson
Originally from Forty Fort, Pennsylvania, Alice Alexander joins the Brookdale team as Family Counselor with several decades of experience in the field of drug and alcohol addiction treatment.
A graduate of Wilkes University, Alice obtained her Bachelor of Science in 1978. She is also a Pennsylvania Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor and is certified in Rational Living Therapy. Alice began her professional career in substance abuse treatment in 1989, as an Admissions Counselor at Marworth. Other positions include Drug and Alcohol Prevention Specialist and Intensive Outpatient Coordinator and Facilitator at Wyoming Valley Alcohol and Drug Services from 2004 to 2018, as well as Family Counselor at Clearbrook Treatment Centers in 2019.
Alice’s desire to help those suffering from substance use disorder and their family members stems from her own personal experiences as a recovering family member. After becoming involved in her own recovery journey in 1987, she began to learn about this disease and how it affected her. As a result, she began to better herself despite those effects. As a Family Counselor at Brookdale, Alice hopes to help families better understand the disease concept so they may learn how to take care of themselves, while supporting their loved one suffering from substance use disorder.
