Although this is considered the most wonderful time of the year by many, it can be anything but when you’re struggling with an addiction to drugs or alcohol. The holidays can come with more stressors than cheer. In fact, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) data shows that drug overdoses increase during the holiday months and the National Institute on Drug Abuse 2019 survey says experts see a heightened increase in relapse during the holiday season.
If you see yourself trying to just survive the holidays and coping in unhealthy ways, it’s important to take this time to get help. At Brookdale, you will be fully supported and are never alone.
The hard work of treatment also comes with special activities and events at our center during the holidays. In a safe and comfortable environment, you can expect to enjoy the magic of the season without any of the usual distractions you might face when you’re at home.
